The sperrin Bar and Restaurantr, Beltany Rd., Omagh
'Pub Spy' Sunday World Article 2004
LIKE AN oasis in the dessert the sperrin bar and restaurant stands out in the barren Tyrone landscape.

Although it’s only a few miles away from the seething metropolis that is Omagh the Sperrin looks as if it’s in the middle of nowhere.
Built on the side of a large petrol station, on the road to Derry, Pub Spy reserved judgement and his hopes weren’t high.
However, hard though it may be to accept, Pub Spy very occasionally gets things wrong and sometimes his first impressions are mistaken.

Happily
Pub Spy can happily report that The Sperrin is a little cracker!
Pub Spy would probably not have darkened its door had it not been for a family gathering about ten enjoy an excellent meal.
Divided into two sections the Sperrin offers the chance to sit and enjoy a couple of pints before moving into the restaurant area.
And Pub Spy done just that.

Both the bar and the restaurant area are extremely well maintained and friendly staff makes sure the place is spotless.
With wooden floors and cosy corners the Sperrin is indeed a place where you can enjoy a quiet pint and watch the world go by.
After a couple of pints and a few moments with the extensive menu Pub Spy was ready for some grub.
All the usual fayre was on offer – chicken, steak, and pasta – plus much more besides.
Pub Spy was a hungry boy and went for the Sperrin platter, which proved one, and for ll that Pub Spy’s eyes were bigger than his belly.
The food was excellent. There was plenty of it and everything was very tasty. Plus the price was right too.
Their were plenty of friendly and willing staff who, even on a busy Saturday night, always made themselves available to make sure we wanted for nothing.
After the mal the craic was great back at the bar with the general chat with the locals focusing on whether Tyrone would be able to retain their All Ireland Gaelic football title. Pub Spy always did like this neck of the woods as he always finds it to be one of the friendliest.
And though the Sperrin stands out on its own it’s no different in this respect.
